The Royal Children’s Hospital seeks a self-motivated, dynamic Registered Anaesthetic/Recovery Nurse. This position splits equally between Recovery and Anaesthetics to provide skilled assistance for safe anaesthesia administration per ANZCA recommendations and post-anaesthetic care for paediatric patients.

Ensure all equipment for anaesthesia is correctly maintained, checked, and available for use. Work in partnership with Medical, Nursing, and Allied Health colleagues to achieve best outcomes for patients. Deliver care in a leading paediatric facility serving Victoria and beyond.

Requirements

  • Paediatric Anaesthetic experience including Post Graduate qualification in Anaesthesia required
  • Recent experience in an acute, medical, surgical, and/or speciality area of nursing
  • Previous experience in Recovery/PACU and/or Paediatrics highly regarded
  • Post Graduate studies in Recovery/PACU highly desirable
  • Evidence of ongoing Professional development
  • Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
  • Valid Working with Children Check

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled assistance to medical staff for the safe administration of anaesthesia or sedation as specified in PS08 2012 (ANZCA) Recommendations on the Assistant for the Anaesthetist
  • Deliver post-anaesthetic care to paediatric patients in Recovery
  • Ensure all equipment pertaining to the administration of anaesthesia is correctly maintained, checked, and available for use
  • Work in partnership with Medical, Nursing, and Allied Health colleagues to ensure best outcomes for patients
  • Assist in paediatric anaesthesia procedures
  • Monitor patients during recovery in PACU
