The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) reports directly to the President & CEO. This senior executive provides strategic medical leadership advancing the 2035 vision for a comprehensive behavioral health system.

The CMO drives medical excellence, ensuring highest quality clinical care delivery across prevention, early intervention, outpatient, residential, crisis response, and inpatient treatment. Leads medical and nursing teams while championing judgment-free, trauma-informed, person-centered care. Integrates physical, mental, and behavioral health services seamlessly.

Works hand-in-hand with the Chief Program Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer for medical service integration. Provides direct oversight to medical teams and nursing leadership, fostering high-performing, mission-driven teams. Supports organizational expansion including continuum growth, mergers, and partnerships from a clinical perspective. Leads quality improvement initiatives with metrics for patient outcomes. Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
  • Board certification in Psychiatry or relevant behavioral health specialty
  • Active state medical license
  • Clinical leadership experience in behavioral health settings
  • Expertise in integrated behavioral health continuum of care
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and accreditation standards in healthcare
  • Experience leading medical and nursing teams
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and clinical data analytics

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement medical strategies aligned with The Centers' 2035 vision for comprehensive behavioral health system of care
  • Provide strategic oversight and clinical direction for medical teams and nursing operations ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes
  • Advance integrated care approaches addressing physical, mental, and behavioral health in collaboration with Chief Program Officer
  • Drive evidence-based medical practices, clinical protocols, and trauma-informed, person-centered care delivery
  • Lead clinical quality improvement initiatives establishing metrics and benchmarks for medical excellence
  • Provide direct oversight to medical teams and nursing leadership fostering high-performing teams
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and clinical best practices
  • Collaborate with Chief Operating Officer for operational excellence including staffing, workflows, and resource allocation
