About this role

The Registered Nurse II on the STBICU Unit reports to the Nurse Manager. Under general supervision, provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level using principles and practices of the nursing process. Delivers safe and effective care while interacting with health care team members to achieve desired outcomes.

Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members for age/developmentally appropriate care per nursing standards. Focuses on patient/family centered care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.

Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and demonstrating responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior. Functions in a professional practice model through active participation in shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, and effective team skills. Coordinates effective and efficient delivery of patient care services using care management principles.

Identifies clinical priorities and initiates action to improve patient outcomes. Promotes leadership and clinical excellence through professional development, autonomous practice, critical thinking, and accountability for actions. Accepts personal responsibility for professional growth in a healthy work environment.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
  • Minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred
  • Associate or Diploma degree in nursing requires enrollment in accredited BSN program within two years and BSN within four years
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for patient vitals, injections, or exams
  • Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed
