About this role
Critical care registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require intensive care. They utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to deliver safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age appropriate nursing care in intensive care areas. Staff nurses also provide patient and family education while advocating for their needs.
Critical care staff nurses develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for critically ill patients and families to promote optimal outcomes. They meet educational and informational needs of patients and families. Nurses coordinate care with nonprofessional personnel as necessary.

Requirements
- Associate's Degree (ADN) required
- Bachelor's Degree (BSN) preferred for nurses hired after September 1, 2013
- 1-2 years of experience preferred
- Licensed RN - MO required upon hire
- Licensed RN - Kansas
- Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered in direct care nursing roles
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for critically ill patients and families
- Meet the educational and informational needs of the patient and family and advocate for their needs
- Maintain an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family centered
- Utilize current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge and improve nursing care quality
- Provide illness management and health promotion for patients requiring intensive care
- Coordinate patient care with nonprofessional personnel as necessary
