About this role

Within a patient/client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model, provides occupational therapy services to enable clients to achieve optimal health outcomes. Works independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Follows established standards of professional practice and organizational vision, values and policies.

Performs assessments on client’s occupational performance using an evidence-based approach. Plans and implements outcome-oriented services. Evaluates the effectiveness of services provided.

Prepares and maintains records, participates in interdisciplinary research. Demonstrates safe and effective resource utilization and quality management. Contributes to organization and delivery of occupational therapy services.

Participates in departmental quality improvement initiatives, meetings, research and education. Work framed within commitments to Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Planetary Health. Supports equitable practices, diverse teams and inclusive environments.

Requirements

  • Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC)
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)
  • Broad knowledge of Occupational Therapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care
  • Broad knowledge of the CHCPBC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and empower clients to assume control over their health
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated skill in Occupational Therapy techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies
