About this role

Responsible for collecting and processing patient specimens for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Works under the supervision of a Medical Technician, Medical Technologist, Section Supervisor, Clinical Laboratory Manager, or Medical Director. Supports essential hospital laboratory functions.

Performs basic venipunctures and capillary collections daily. Registers patients and specimens in the laboratory system, labels according to policy, and transports to the lab. Maintains supplies and cleanliness of phlebotomy stations.

Assists with outpatient and inpatient phlebotomy needs in a clinical environment. Ensures specimens are handled accurately for timely processing. Operates within hospital protocols for patient care.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • No licenses or certification required
  • 6 months specialized training preferred
  • Knowledge of venipuncture and capillary collection techniques
  • Understanding of specimen labeling and transport policies
  • Ability to maintain phlebotomy station organization
