About this role

The Joint Commission seeks an Acute Care Registered Nurse with leadership experience in quality, accreditation, and regulations for a nationwide surveyor role. Selected candidates can be located anywhere in the United States. The Psychiatric RN Field Representative surveys health care organizations to assess compliance with standards.

Apply systems analysis skills and inductive reasoning to evaluate care delivery systems and degree of compliance. Engage health care organization staff in interactive dialogues on standards-based issues. Identify opportunities for improving compliance through constructive assessments.

Prepare management reports linking standards deficiencies with systems vulnerabilities and organization risk points. Communicate findings effectively to health care organization leadership in a collegial style. Participate in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by supervisor.

Work involves 100% nationwide travel, observing real-time health care treatments and inspecting facilities nationwide. Availability ranges from two weeks for part-time to four weeks for full-time per month. Contemporary knowledge of health care operations and Joint Commission standards drives performance in this dynamic field environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of approved school of nursing with master’s degree in appropriate discipline
  • Current professional RN license required at hire and maintained throughout employment
  • CPHQ certification through NAHQ at time of hire or within one year
  • Experience working in a Psychiatric Hospital or facility
  • Five years recent health care experience including three years direct clinical in psychiatric settings
  • Two years accreditation, certification leadership, or senior management experience
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards with direct involvement in two surveys
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, interviewing, and communication skills
