The Medical Laboratory Scientist independently performs diagnostic tests in the Clinical Laboratory to obtain data for disease diagnosis and treatment. Performs venipunctures and capillary draws on Inpatients, Emergency Room patients, and Outpatients as needed. This fosters a culture encouraging collaboration and teamwork for future innovation.
This 40-hour per week, benefitted night-shift position works 4 10-hour shifts from 8:30 pm to 7:00 am, with rotating weekends and holidays. The night shift receives a 20% shift differential. It offers a place to learn and grow, encouraging new graduates like MLTs and MLSs to apply.

Requirements
- AS degree and minimum of 4 years of Clinical Laboratory experience or Bachelor's of Science Degree and minimum of 2 years of Clinical Laboratory experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience required.
- Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines and manage changing volumes.
- Basic knowledge of computer software systems.
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of laboratory tests in a timely manner, yielding accurate and precise results with a low error rate.
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems, ensuring patient results are not reported until systems function correctly and communicates resolutions.
- Performs and evaluates quality control and instrument function checks to assess test system functioning and resolves issues.
- Operates and maintains laboratory equipment according to procedures, including supplies, and remedies sample, instrument, or procedural problems.
- Orients and trains new laboratory staff, bench personnel on new procedures, and MLS or MLT students in procedures and theory.
- Actively participates in the laboratory's continuing education program.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and acts in accordance with all hospital safety requirements.
