About this role
St Vincent’s Health Australia is Australia’s largest not-for-profit provider of health and aged care services. Founded by The Sisters of Charity in 1857, our +30,000 healthcare superheroes operate public and private hospitals, residential aged care, community and virtual care, and outreach programs. The Clinical Coder assigns accurate and timely clinical codes to patient episodes of care.
Analyse patient record documentation and use the appropriate version of ICD10AM, applying Australian Coding Standards and relevant State Coding authority advice. Liaise with Clinicians to clarify documentation in the health record for timely and accurate code assignment. Participate in regular coder clinician communication strategies.
Work across SVHA – Mater Hospital, St Vincent’s Private and Griffith hospitals. Complete Cancer Registry notifications where required and review records for PICQ or audits. Be involved with ongoing training and education sessions at a leading not-for-profit health provider.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent, or Clinical Coding qualifications from HIMAA or equivalent
- Provide accurate and timely coding of patient records using ICD 10 AM
- At least two years clinical coding experience
- Previous experience with 3M Codefinder software
- Experience in clinical coding across a range of DRGs with demonstrated high quality coding skills
- Up to date knowledge of Clinical Coding guidelines and Australian Coding Standards
