About this role
Spire South Bank Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Administrator to join on a 30 hour working week. The hospital has operated for 30 years providing quality private healthcare to the local population. It works with experienced Consultant Surgeons, Anaesthetists and Physicians for tailored care and positive patient feedback.
Respond to enquiries from patients, public and consultants timely and courteously by face-to-face, telephone or letter, ensuring accurate records. Process patient admission letters and documentation, confirming details with patients and consultants. Liaise closely with patients, consultants and clinical teams on special requirements.
Maintain an efficient bookings system for in-patients and day cases using the SAP computerised system. Develop up-to-date knowledge of Spire and insurers’ products, policies and initiatives. Liaise with pre-authorisation team to ensure funding before patient admission.
Practice high standards of confidentiality and comply with Data Protection Act for patient information. Undertake training to acquire skills for the role competently. Join a leading independent hospital group committed to employee well-being and development.
Requirements
- Experience working in a clinical or similar environment
- Professional telephone manner
- Knowledge of medical, anatomical and physiological terminology
- Knowledge of IT systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel
- Ability to remain calm when dealing with clients
- Good organisational skills and time management
Responsibilities
- Respond to enquiries from patients, members of the public and consultants in a timely, courteous and efficient manner by face to face, telephone or letter, ensuring accurate records
- Process patient admission letters and associated documentation, confirming details with patients/consultants and secretaries
- Liaise closely with patients, consultants and clinical teams in relation to special requirements or individual requests
- Provide and maintain an efficient bookings system for all in-patients and day cases using SAP
- Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Spire and other insurers’ products, policies and initiatives
- Liaise with pre-authorisation team or medical insurer to ensure funding prior to patient admission
- Practice and maintain high standard of confidentiality and discretion with patient/consultant/staff information
- Undertake training or development to acquire skills and knowledge for the role
